Blink is thrilled to announce that two of our videos have won the 2012 Pixie Awards! The Pixie Awards recognize outstanding work in animation, effects, and motion graphics in North America. The awards are sponsored by the American Pixel Academy (APA), a coalition of video professionals and educators.
The gold statuette (seen above with Blink's mascots Frank & Charlie) for the Effects category was awarded to our commercial for the Kodak Playsport, with judges saying "An excellent use of filters that add a great deal to the production without being overpowering."
Blink's GetConnected TV hosts were out in full force at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this year. Mike Agerbo, AJ Vickery, producer Tristan Jutras and I ran around the trade show (which was the equivalent of 36 football fields!) soaking up all the tech goodness the future holds. From the amazing Lenovo Yoga Ultrabook to a bluetooth-enabled shower speaker, we were in geek heaven. Blink has wrapped our ninth season of TV show GetConnected, Canada's leading technology lifestyle show that showcases how to enhance your work and home life with new tech. Regarded as our best season yet, we saw hosts Mike Agerbo, AJ Vickery, and Andy Baryer explore 3D printing, gas-powered cars vs hybrids/electrics, how to build you own robots, amp up your photography, and a lot more.
It's been a banner year for Blink. We've brought on a lot of new clients and more rock star talent, and we're incredibly thankful. Because we live and breathe video, here's a little something we did to wish all of you the best for this holiday season (keep an eye out for cameos from Blink mascots Frank & Charlie). The magical world of the holidays comes to life outdoors with Mountain Equipment Co-ops's 2011 holiday video. MEC's vision was to capture their core values and highlight their gear. To create the unique video, our creative team used a green screen and blended stop motion, live action, and computer animation. The background and illustrations were composited with the stop action figures in After Effects.
Staples came to us to help spread the word about their Recycle for Education contest. Our creative team came up with delightful animation that mixes infographic and kinetic type styles, in a fast-paced, yet friendly way. Our team used After Effects as the backbone of the animation, adding some sprinkles of Cinema 4D to add a little bit of sophistication.
